Our lawful bases
Depending on the purpose, we may rely on:
- Public task: for parliamentary and elected representative functions, democratic engagement and lawful use of electoral register information
- Consent: for political emails, texts, direct messages, automated calls, optional cookies and other clearly optional uses
- Legitimate interests: for website administration, security, record keeping, events, appropriate political engagement and postal communications
- Legal obligation: for electoral, donation, accounting, regulatory and data protection requirements
- Vital interests: where necessary to protect someone’s life or physical safety
Where legitimate interests are used, we consider whether the processing is necessary and whether your rights override those interests.
You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing already undertaken.
Political opinions and sensitive information
Where the Office processes political opinions or other special category information, it will only do so where an applicable legal condition exists. This may include explicit consent, information you have deliberately made public, elected representative functions, legal claims or vital interests.
Where Reform UK is the controller, it may also rely on the statutory condition available to registered political parties for processing information revealing political opinions.
We do not use information about a person’s health, disability, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, sex life, trade union membership, genetic information, biometric information or criminal history to select that person for political messaging, advertising or campaigning.
We do not infer these sensitive characteristics for political communication purposes.
Political communications
We will only send political or promotional emails, text messages or social media direct messages where the recipient has provided the consent required by law.
The electronic marketing soft opt-in does not apply to political campaigning.
Automated political calls will only be made with specific consent. Live calls and postal communications may be made where permitted by law and where you have not objected.
Every political electronic communication will identify the sender and provide a simple way to unsubscribe.
You may object to direct marketing at any time.
Cookies
Strictly necessary cookies may be used to operate and secure the website.
Optional analytics, advertising, social media tracking and campaign measurement technologies will only be used where the legally required consent has been obtained.
You can accept, reject or change your cookie choices. Further information is available in our Cookie Notice.
Sharing information
Depending on the purpose, information may be shared with:
- Authorised parliamentary and campaign staff
- Reform UK and authorised Reform UK organisations
- Government departments and public bodies
- Local authorities, NHS bodies and emergency services
- Housing providers, schools, regulators and ombudsmen
- Professional advisers
- Payment, event and communications providers
- Website, email, security and technology suppliers
- Law enforcement or regulatory bodies where required
Information will only be shared where it is relevant, necessary and lawful.
We do not sell personal information.
NationBuilder and international transfers
This website uses NationBuilder, which may process information in the United States.
NationBuilder states that it participates in the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Transfers may also be protected by its Data Processing Addendum and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Other suppliers may also process information outside the United Kingdom. Appropriate legal safeguards will be used where required.
How long we retain information
We retain personal information for as long as it remains reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this notice.
The appropriate retention period will depend on:
- The nature of the information
- The purpose for which it was collected
- Whether our relationship or engagement with you remains active
- Whether the information remains relevant to parliamentary, constituency, political or campaigning activity
- Electoral, financial, regulatory and legal requirements
- The need to maintain records of consent, objections and communication preferences
- The possibility of complaints, disputes, investigations or legal claims
- Security, safeguarding and accountability considerations
Some information may therefore be retained for an extended period where it remains relevant and necessary. This may include supporter and engagement records, electoral information, donation records, correspondence, consent records and suppression records.
Information collected for one campaign may be retained for future political engagement where its continued use is lawful, compatible with the original purpose and reasonably expected.
We periodically review the information we hold. Information that is no longer required will be deleted, anonymised or securely archived, as appropriate.
Constituency casework is retained separately under the Office’s casework retention arrangements.
Required information
Some information may be required to respond to an enquiry, confirm that you are a constituent, administer an event or comply with electoral law.
Where information is required, the relevant form will make this clear.
Consent to political marketing is optional and will not affect constituency assistance or other services.
Automated decisions
We do not make decisions about individuals based solely on automated processing where those decisions would have legal or similarly significant effects.

- Correct inaccurate information
